"The Escape from Halland - [...] is written like a revue sketch, often deeply ironic. Larsson satirizes the Migration Agency and its staff, whom she believes become desensitized over time. Here, agency employees gladly help refugees take their own lives as long as they don't make a mess indoors. […] One scene portrays a few Muslim women who have found a brochure about Halland and plan to spend a few weeks there as if it were a vacation. The ensemble fully embraces the concept and delivers fast, exaggerated portrayals that blend empathy and depth - a total of around 30 roles. Moreover, they are all very talented comedians, and satire serves as a means to explore Swedish refugee policy and our perceptions of it. [...]

The set design is simple, cages with blinds. Director Eva Wendt Robles has found a lightly stylized acting style and mixes genres, realism, and heightened pastiche. The staging is equally raw and exaggerated as it is insightfully subtle. It should work perfectly as a basis for discussion on Swedish refugee policy - and for whom all these paragraphs are written: does one miss specifically female reasons due to a too narrow definition of the refugee concept? Gertrud Larsson poses the question with theatrical emphasis."
